Francesca Fieni, PharmD, PhD
Founder and Chief Science Officer of Pano Therapeutics, USA Dr. Francesca Fieni is the founder and CSO of Pano Therapeutics, a platform biotech company she spun out of UCSF focused on clinical development of drugs targeting mitochondrial ion channels to address complex diseases. She has authored publications related to a variety of ion channels and is now focused on the largely unexplored universe of mitochondrial ion channels. Francesca and the team at Pano are developing new ways of pharmacologically modulating mitochondrial ion channels to address chronic diseases of aging with an overarching goal of extending health span. Francesca earned a PharmD and a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy and subsequently pursued a postdoctoral fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston. She was an independent research associate/Specialist at the University of California San Francisco before she turned entrepreneur. She is the principal inventor of patent applications covering various novel genera of both synthetic as well as natural compound formulations for the treatment of complex diseases of age and metabolism. |
